West Hawaii Weather Update # 2 for September 1st, 2019
Notice Level: (Urgent - Re-issuance) Flood Advisory has been extended for West Hawaii districts (North & South Kohala and Kona) of Hawaii Island until 10:15 pm Sunday night.
Moderate to heavy rains with some thunderstorms have been reported in Puuanahulu, Puuwaawaa, Kalaoa, Kaloko, Honalo, and Kealakekua area.
HPD reports NO ROAD or LANE Closures have been reported at this time and all motorist is being asked to drive with caution on roadways in West Hawaii. Closures may happen without notice.

The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 1015 PM HST. * At 713 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain across portions of leeward Big Island near Waikoloa. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour. * Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Puuanahulu, Honaunau, Kahaluu-Keauhou, Kainaliu, Waikoloa Village, Kealakekua, Honalo, Kalaoa, Holualoa and Kohala Ranch. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1015 PM HST if heavy rain persists.
