Earthquake Information Statement for April 7th, 2021

No Tsunami Threat to the Island of Hawaii following a magnitude 6.0 earthquake in the region of Kermadec Islands, New Zealand late Tuesday evening (April 6th).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred in the region of the Kermadec Islands, New Zealand at a depth of 10.0-kilometers at 11:53 pm Hawaii Standard Time (HST) late Tuesday evening (April 6th).


Based on all assessments completed by the Australian Tsunami Warning Centre (ATWC), United States Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC), and Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO THE ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAI'I, AGAIN NO TSUNAMI THREAT.


This will be the only statement for this event unless further data is received.
