Earthquake Information Statement for February 15th, 2021

No Tsunami Threat to the Island of Hawaii following a magnitude 6.2 earthquake near Port Vila, Vanuatu Monday afternoon (February 15th).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 6.2 (initially a 6.7 later downgraded to a 6.2) earthquake occurred offshore of Port Vila, Vanuatu at 2:49 pm Hawaii Standard Time (HST) Monday afternoon (February 15th).

Based on all assessments completed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre (ATWC), and United States Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC), There is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAII, Again NO TSUNAMI THREAT.


This will be the only statement for this event unless further data is received.
