No Tsunami Threat to the Island of Hawaii following a magnitude 8.2 earthquake offshore Perryville, Alaska Wednesday evening (July 28th).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 8.2 earthquake that occurred approximately 104 kilometers offshore southeast of Perryville Alaska (Chignik, Alaska) at 8:15 pm Hawaii Standard Time (HST) Wednesday evening (July 28th) at a depth of 32.2 kilometers.
Based on all extensive assessments completed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) and the United States Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC) for the State of Hawai'i, there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO THE ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAI'I, AGAIN NO TSUNAMI THREAT.
The TSUNAMI WATCH originally in effect for the Island of Hawaii has also been canceled following the information received from PTWC.
This will be the only statement for this event unless further data is received.
