No Tsunami Threat for Hawaii following a magnitude 7.5 earthquake in Northern Peru
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 7.5 (moment later upgraded to an 8.0) magnitude earthquake occurred in the region of Lagunas, Peru at 9:41 pm Saturday evening (May 25).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) has completed their assessment on this earthquake And report that there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT FOR ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAII. Again, there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT.
This will be the only statement for this event unless further information is received.
