No Tsunami Threat for Hawai'i following a magnitude 6.6 earthquake offshore of La Libertad, El Salvador
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 6.5 (later upgraded to 6.6 Magnitude) earthquake occurred offshore of La Libertad, El Salvador at 11:03 pm Hawaii Standard Time (HST) Wednesday Night (May 29th).
The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) has completed their assessment for this event and reports that their is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO THE ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAI'I. Again, there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT.
This will be the only statement for this event unless further data and information is received.
