Earthquake Information Statement for October 28th, 2019

No Tsunami Threat to the Island of Hawaii following a magnitude 6.8 (moment) earthquake occurred in the Bual, Philippines region Monday afternoon (October 28th).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports to a magnitude 6.8 Moment (later downgraded to 6.6) had occurred 14km E of Bual, Philippines at 3:04 pm Hawaii Standard Time Monday afternoon.
Based on all assessments completed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC), there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO ISLAND OR STATE OF HAWAI'I. Again, THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT.
This will be the only statement for this event unless further data or information is received.
