The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 6.0 earthquake occurred in the region of Gisborne, New Zealand at a depth of 10.0-kilometers at 9:37 pm Hawaii Standard Time (HST) on Sunday evening (April 4th).
Based on all assessments completed by the Australian Tsunami Warning Centre (ATWC), United States Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC), and Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO THE ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAI'I, AGAIN NO TSUNAMI THREAT.
This will be the only statement for this event unless further data is received.
