Earthquake Information Update for August 29th, 2019

No Tsunami Threat following a Magnitude 6.3 earthquake offshore of Bandon, Oregon Thursday morning (August 29th).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports to a magnitude 6.4 Moment (later downgraded to 6.3) had occurred 171 miles offshore of Bandon, Oregon at 5:08 am Hawaii Standard Time (8:08 am Pacific Daylight Time) Thursday.


Based on all assessments completed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC), there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO ISLAND OR STATE OF HAWAI'I. Again, THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT.


This will be the only statement for both events, unless further data or information is received.
