No Tsunami Threat following a Magnitude 7.3 earthquake in the Laiwui, Indonesia Saturday Night (July 14th)
The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports to a magnitude 7.3 (Moment and Confirmed) had occurred in Laiwui, Indonesia occurred at 11:10 pm Hawaii Standard Time Saturday night.
Numerous aftershocks are occurring near the epicenter of this large earthquake ranging from magnitude 4.8 to 5.8 earthquakes.
Based on all assessments completed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC), Joint Australian Tsunami Warning Centre (JATWC), and the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC) for all earthquakes occurring in the region, there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO ISLAND OR STATE OF HAWAI'I. Again, THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT.
