Earthquake Information Update for July 5th, 2019

No Tsunami Threat following a Magnitude 6.9 earthquake in the Mohave Desert Friday Evening (July 5th)

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports to a magnitude 7.1 Moment (later downgraded to 6.9) had occurred in Southern California region (Mohave Desert) near Ridgecrest at 5:19 pm Hawaii Standard Time (8:19 pm Pacific Daylight Time).


Based on all assessments completed by the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center and the U.S. Tsunami Warning Center (USTWC), there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO ISLAND OR STATE OF HAWAI'I. Again, THERE IS NO TSUNAMI THREAT.


This will be the only statement for both events, unless further data or information is received.
