Earthquake Information Update for June 3rd, 2020

No Tsunami Threat to Island of Hawaii following a magnitude 5.5 earthquake that occurred in the area of Ridgecrest, California late Wednesday afternoon (June 3rd).

The United States Geological Survey (USGS) reports a magnitude 5.5 (initially registered as a 5.1, later updated to 5.5) had occurred in the area of Ridgecrest, California at a depth of 7 kilometers (KM) at 3:32 pm Hawaii Standard Time (HST) late Wednesday afternoon (June 3rd).


Based on all assessments conducted by the United States Tsunami Warning Centers (USTWC) and the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center (PTWC) reports that there is NO TSUNAMI THREAT TO THE ISLAND AND STATE OF HAWAII. Again, NO TSUNAMI THREAT.


There is also NO TSUNAMI THREAT for the West Coast of the United States (Washington, Oregon, and California).


This will be the only statement for this event unless further data is received.
