Flood Advisory has once again been issued for the districts of South Hilo, Puna, and Ka'u until 11:15 pm Tuesday Evening (March 3rd). A rainfall rate of 1-2 inches per hour has been recorded in some areas. (Please see the post for further details).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a * Flood advisory for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 1115 PM HST. * At 814 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over the Puna and South Hilo districts falling at rates of 1 to 2 inches per hour. Rain showers continue to move onshore from the southeast. * Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Hilo, Hawaiian Acres, Glenwood, Keaau, Papaikou, Orchidland Estates, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Pahoa, Mountain View, Kalapana, Fern Forest and Hawaiian Beaches. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1115 PM HST if heavy rain persists.
