East Hawaii Flood Advisory for April 12th, 2019

THE FLOOD ADVISORY REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 1015 PM HST FOR THE ISLAND OF HAWAII IN HAWAII COUNTY At 855 PM HST...radar and rain gages continue to show the heaviest rain fall rates between 1 and 2 inches per hour over the South Hilo and Puna districts of the Big Island. Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Hilo, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidlands Estates, Glenwood, Keaau, Papaikou, Volcano, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Pahoa, Mountain View, Ookala and Pepeekeo. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown.
