A Flood Advisory has been issued for the East Hawaii districts of Hamakua, North Hilo, South Hilo, and Puna until 6:45 am Friday morning (December 18th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 645 AM HST.
* At 343 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over windward and
southeast portions of the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate
of 1 to 2 inches per hour. This rainfall will continue for at
least the next few hours and likely longer.
* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Honokaa, Mountain View, Glenwood,
Volcano, Keaau, Hawaiian Acres, Orchidland Estates, Papaikou,
Pepeekeo, Honomu, Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, Pahoa, Hakalau,
Ninole, Laupahoehoe, Ookala and Paauilo.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

persists.
