East Hawaii Flood Advisory for December 19th, 2020
A Flood Advisory has been issued and extended for the East Hawaii districts of North Hilo, South Hilo, and Puna until 3:45 am Saturday morning (December 19th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the
* Flood Advisory for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County in Hawaii...
* Until 345 AM HST.
* At 1231 AM HST, radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy
rain over the windward Big Island from Hilo to Volcano to Pahala.
Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour within fast
moving heavy showers.
* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Glenwood, Mountain View, Volcano,
Hawaiian Acres, Orchidland Estates, Hawaii Volcanoes National
Park, Keaau, Pahoa, Papaikou, Pepeekeo, Honomu, Wood Valley,
Hakalau, and Pahala.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

persists.
