East Hawaii Flood Advisory for February 27th, 2021

A Flood Advisory has been issued for the East Hawaii districts of South Hilo and Puna through Saturday morning (February 27th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 1015 AM HST.

* At 719 AM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over much of the Hilo
  and Puna Districts, with rainfall especially persistent near
  Pahoa. Rain falling at rates up to 2 inches per hour will lead to
  very low visibility.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Fern Acres, Pepeekeo, Glenwood,
  Hawaiian Acres, Hawaiian Beaches, Leilani Estates, Orchidland
  Estates, Nanawale Estates, Pahoa, and Paauilo.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 1015 AM HST if flooding
persists.
