East Hawaii Flood Advisory for January 25th, 2021

A Flood Advisory for the East Hawaii districts of Puna, Ka'ū, and Hilo (North and South) has issued through Monday morning (January 25th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 730 AM HST.

* At 424 AM HST, Radar indicated heavy rain over the east side of
  the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per
  hour.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Hilo, Volcano, Glenwood, Mountain View, Hawaii Volcanoes National
  Park, Hawaiian Acres, Keaau, Orchidland Estates, Pahoa, Papaikou,
  Pepeekeo, Honomu, Hakalau, Pahala, Laupahoehoe and Punaluu Beach.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 730 AM HST if flooding
persists.
