East Hawaii Weather Update for November 25th, 2020

A Flood Advisory has been issued for the East Hawaii districts of South Hilo and Puna until 7:30 pm Wednesday evening (November 25th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 730 PM HST.

* At 421 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over Hilo and Puna
  districts. Rain was falling at a rate of up to 2 inches per hour.
  The heaviest rainfall was occurring between Hilo and Pahoa.
  Additional rain is expected during the next several hours.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Hilo, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Mountain View, Keaau, Hawaiian
  Acres, Orchidland Estates, Glenwood,  Pahoa, Pepeekeo, Honomu,
  Hakalau, Laupahoehoe, Fern Acres and Eden Roc.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 730 PM HST if flooding
persists.
