The HIRSC - Weather Team is continuing to monitor Tropical Depression Blanca that is currently churning and also slowly dissipating in the East Pacific Ocean.
At last check, Blanca was located approximately 2,314 miles East-Southeast of Hilo, Hawaii Island, and moving to the West at 5 mph. Tropical Depression Blanca is expected to dissipate and forecasted to become a remnant low by sometime over the next few days.
No weather effects or impacts from Blanca are expected in the next few days, however, remnant moisture from Blanca may move in with trade wind flow and could bring an increase in windward and mauka showers sometime next week.
Also, the HIRSC - Weather Team is monitoring an area of interest located 3,215 miles East-Southeast of Hilo, Hawaii Island. That system has a 40% chance of becoming an organized system in the next 5 days. We will continue to monitor this area of interest over the next several days and provide daily updates on this system as well.
Even though Blanca is not going to impact the Island of Hawaii, however, this is a good reminder to be prepared and have all emergency supplies ready as we are at the start of hurricane season, which lasts until November 30th.
