Eastern Pacific Tropical Cyclone Outlook for September 24th, 2020
HIRSC - Weather Team is continuing to monitor Tropical Cyclone Lowell (currently a Tropical Storm with maximum sustained winds of 40 mph and continue to move to the West at 12 mph) in the Eastern Pacific region. The center of Lowell is 1,830 miles East-Southeast of Hilo, Hawaii Island.
Current and future forecast models show Lowell beginning a weakening trend expected to turn into a tropical depression on Friday and later a remnant low by Saturday.
Future models show the remnants of Lowell are expected to get caught in the trade wind flow and the windward side of Hawaii Island could see increase trade showers sometime late next week.

DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK

At 500 PM HST (0300 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Lowell was
located near latitude 21.8 North, longitude 127.0 West. Lowell is
moving toward the west near 12 mph (19 km/h). A westward motion at
a slightly faster forward speed is expected for the next several
days.
Maximum sustained winds are now near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher
gusts. Gradual weakening is anticipated, and Lowell is forecast to
become a remnant low on Saturday.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 90 miles (150 km)
from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1004 mb (29.65 inches).
