A Flood Advisory for the island of Hawaii has been extended until 7:15 pm Sunday evening (March 29th). Moderate to heavy showers have been reported in many areas around Hawaii Island. (See Post for Further Details)

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has extended the * Flood advisory for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 715 PM HST. * At 349 PM HST, radar indicated moderate to heavy rain falling over several areas on the Big Island. The heaviest and most persistent rainfall continues to impact the Puna district, with a rain gage in Pahoa receiving over 3 inches of rain so far this afternoon. Additional briefly heavy downpours will affect the Kau, Kona, Kohala and Hilo districts, especially upslope. * Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Hilo, Pepeekeo, Keaau, Orchidland Estates, Hawaiian Paradise Park, Fern Acres, Eden Roc, Glenwood, Fern Forest, Nanawale Estates, Leilani Estates and Mountain View. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 715 PM HST if heavy rain persists.
