The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a
* Flood Advisory for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 130 PM HST.
* At 1031 AM HST, radar indicated slow-moving moderate to heavy
showers along the leeward side, with heaviest rainfall impacting
the area from Keahole Point to Honaunau. Additional heavy rain
near South Point has caused the closure of Highway 11 at mile
marker 60 near Kawa Flats, where water covers the roadway. Heavy
showers are expected to increase in coverage over the windward
slopes as well.
* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
the entire Big Island, especially the Kona and Kau Districts, as
well as portions of the Hilo and Hamakua Districts.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.
A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 130 PM HST if flooding
