MAUNA KEA SUMMIT ROAD CONDITIONS

Road Status: Closed

Wednesday, March 10, 2021 - 06:02 a.m.

Aloha,

The Maunakea access road will remain closed to the public above the Visitor Information Station at an elevation of 9200 ft. A summit road and weather condition inspection was done this afternoon, finding summit roads impassable due to a layer of ice and snow covering all summit roads. There is a Winter Weather Advisory and a Flash Flood Watch until Wednesday that the National Weather Service issued for all summits on the Big Island.

We will continue to monitor the summit road and weather conditions, with updates to be provided tomorrow morning

Mahalo, for your patience and understanding.
