Hawaii Island Traffic Incidents Update for November 27th, 2019

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a total of 18 different traffic collisions around Hawaii Island on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019.


Two incidents resulted in serious injuries and other incidents were minor or non-injury accidents.

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a total of 18 different traffic collisions around Hawaii Island on Tuesday, November 26th, 2019.


The majority of the incidents reported were non-injury or minor accidents that occurred and only required the response of HPD Officers. 2 Serious Motor Vehicle Accident (MVA) occurred in South Hilo and North Kona.


Breakdown on the traffic incidents by district:

We highlight a few notable incidents that occurred on Monday on Hawaii Island.


  • The first incident occurred at 1:52 pm on East Puainako Street across from KTA Puainako in Hilo. Reports came in that a female party had run into traffic and was struck by a full-size pickup on Puainako Street and American Medical Response Unit was on scene conducting a medical assessment on the patient awaiting the arrival of HFD units. The female was reported earlier to be having behavior disorder and was running in front of cars on Puainako Street prior to the collision with the pickup truck. Female in her teens was transported to the Hilo Medical Center in serious condition and the driver of the pickup was uninjured.

  • The second incident occurred at 6:03 pm on Ali'i Drive fronting Honl's Beach Park in Kailua-Kona. Reports came in that a sedan had collided with a pedestrian (being described as a 19-year-old female) and suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. Bystanders provided medical care until emergency crews arrived on scene. The 19-year-old female was transported to the Kona Community Hospital in serious condition and the driver of the sedan was uninjured.
