Hawaii Island Traffic Incidents Update for November 29th, 2019

Emergency crews responded to a total of 18 traffic collisions on Hawaii Island on Thanksgiving (November 28th).
Of the 18 incidents, the Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) was dispatched to 5 and rest were handled by the Hawaii Police Department (HPD). Of these, 17 out of 18 were declared minor and non-injury accidents.
One incident in Kona resulted in serious injuries and other incidents were minor or non-injury accidents.

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a total of 12 different traffic collisions around Hawaii Island on Thursday, November 28th, 2019.
The majority of the incidents reported were non-injury or minor accidents that occurred and only required the response of HPD Officers. One incident involving serious injuries occurred in North Kona.

We highlight a few notable incidents that occurred on Thursday on Hawaii Island.
The one incident occurred at 7:54 pm Thursday evening on Highway 180 (Mamalahoa Hwy) near the 5-mile marker in Wai'aha. Reports came in that a single vehicle had run off the roadway into heavy brush. One person was reported to have suffered injuries. HFD Medics then transported one person to the Kona Community Hospital in serious condition.
