Hawaii Island Water Outage Update # 2 for April 29th, 2019

The County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply (DWS) reports two water main breaks occurred in North Kohala and Papaikou in South Hilo Monday morning (April 29th).

As of 4:05 pm, Water service was restored to all customers in North Kohala and Papaikou.

Due to the water main break, the Department of Education (DOE) reports Kohala Elementary and High School and Prince Jonah Kuhio Kalanianaole Elementary School were closed today. Kohala Middle School was later closed at 12:00 pm Monday afternoon due to the water outage. DOE officials report all schools will reopen tomorrow morning.

DWS would like to thank the public for their patience and understanding while repairs were being completed.
