Well, This past Saturday (September 26th) was a very eventful one on the Island of Hawaii, and let just say to our standards, probably the strangest/weirdest day we've heard in months. Here's a glimpse of what was heard for Saturday, September 26th, 2020.

Some items can just be unusual to outright strange that our local first responders respond to investigate almost on a daily basis. This is just a summary of the initial dispatch and not the final outcome, however, some incident outcome/further details are noted below the initial dispatch.

  • 12:00 am - HPD requested for HFD to respond back to the brush fire at the 13.5-mile marker on Highway 270 (Akoni Pule Highway) for a report of multiple flare-ups in the burn area near Lapakahi State Park.

  • 12:56 am - HPD and HFD responded to a report of a single-vehicle rollover type collision in the area of Society for Kona Education and Arts (SKEA) Center on Highway 11 (Mamalahoa Highway) in Honaunau, South Kona. One person was transported to the Kona Community Hospital in serious condition.

  • 1:15 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence in Fern Acres. A small fire found within the residence was quickly contained by HFD crews.

  • 2:56 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Ane Keohokalole Highway and Hina Lani Street in Kaloko, North Kona. No injuries at the scene.

  • 3:11 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision into a utility pole near the intersection of Konawaena School Road and Highway 11 (Mamalahoa Highway). No injuries.

  • 7:52 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of an active domestic at a residence off of Hawaii Belt Road in Kalaoa.

  • 8:12 am - HPD responded to investigate a report of a male party self-gratifying inside of a flatbed truck on Akoni Pule Highway in Kapa’au.

  • 8:35 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Wood Valley above Ka’u Coffee Plantation.

  • 9:24 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a vehicle fire on Beach Road near Sand Hill in Puna.

  • 9:34 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a residential structure fire at Ho’okena Beach in South Kona. A two-story single-family dwelling destroyed along with multiple vehicles in the area.

  • 9:30 am - HPD responded to investigate a report of two people blocking access to Kohanaiki Beach.

  • 9:45 am - HPD responded to Kohanaiki Beach for a report of an unknown type disturbance. An altercation involving an HPD officer at Kohanaiki attempting to take a male into custody. (Related to the 9:30 am call).

  • 10:14 am - HPD responded to investigate a traffic hazard at the intersection of Mana Road and Highway 19 (Mamalahoa Highway). Gravel on the roadway.

  • 10:18 am - HPD responded to a report of a stray dog wandering the yard of the residence on Hiwahiwa Street in Kapa’au.

  • 10:28 am - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a coroner case at a residence in Waipio Valley in Hamakua.

  • 10:40 am - HFD responded to a report of a person who had fallen near a residence Beach Road in Hawaiian Beaches. The patient was reported to be near the cliffside.

  • 10:47 am - HPD responded to a report of a person having a behavior disorder a residence in Captain Cook.

  • 11:20 am - HPD responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision at the Keauhou Transfer Station. The vehicle struck a fence. No injuries.

  • 11:43 am - HPD responded to a report of an active domestic between a male and female on Old Mamalahoa Highway in Onomea.

  • 12:15 pm - HFD and HPD responded to check on the welfare of a male party passed out in a running vehicle on Ali’i Drive fronting the Old Outrigger Keauhou Beach Hotel near Kahalu’u Beach Park in North Kona.

  • 12:29 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of a reckless driver heading northbound on Queen Kaahumanu Highway near Hina Lani Street in Kaloko. The vehicle was weaving in and out of traffic and passing on the shoulder.

  • 12:48 pm - HPD responded to a report of an unknown male walked into an apartment unit and ask if they needed assistance, left the area. The person was not an acquaintance of the reporting party.

  • 1:24 pm - HPD responded to a document a trespassing complaint on Opelo Road in Kamuela.

  • 1:36 pm - HPD responded to a report of an unknown type of disturbance in the parking lot of Crossroads Shopping Center in Kailua-Kona. Road Rage incident

  • 1:59 pm - HPD responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision in the parking lot fronting OfficeMax in Kailua-Kona. No injuries, fender-bender type collision.

  • 2:05 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of a nude male party defecating in the parking lot of a business on Hanama Place in Kailua Village, North Kona.

  • 2:17 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of a reckless driver on Queen Kaahumanu Highway in the area of the 85-mile marker in Kaupulehu. The vehicle was reported to be weaving in and out traffic.

  • 3:24 pm - HPD responded to a report of a female party causing a disturbance fronting a business on Haleki’i Street in Kealakekua.

  • 3:41 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a person having suicidal ideations at a residence in Fern Acres.

  • 4:24 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a person accidentally overdosed on marijuana at a residence on Ahikawa Street in Kalaoa.

  • 4:36 pm - HFD responded to La’aloa Beach Park for a report of a patient pulled from the water by Ocean Safety Lifeguards, conscious at the time of the report.

  • 4:42 pm - HPD responded to a report of multiple juveniles riding on ATV on Haena Street in Waikoloa Village.

  • 5:59 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Highway 130 (Kalapana-Pahoa Road) and Highway 132 (Pahoa-Kapoho Road) in Pahoa Village.

  • 6:14 pm - HPD responded to a report of a neighbor vehicle blocking the report party’s driveway at a residence on Holualoa Hui Road in Kailua-Kona.

  • 6:18 pm - HFD and HPD responding to a report of a female party having a behavior disorder fronting Kahalu’u Housing in Keauhou. The female party was reported to be kicking a vehicle and yelling at a person in the vehicle. Also reported to coloring self. Possibly under the influence.

  • 6:40 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of an assault victim in Keaukaha.

  • 7:08 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of a suspicious vehicle on Lua Kula Street in Waikoloa Village.

  • 7:30 pm - HPD responded to document a two-vehicle hit and run collision that occurred on Hualalai Road.

  • 7:36 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a vehicle fire at the intersection of KuauIi RD and Highway 11 (Volcano Highway) in Kurtistown.

  • 7:42 pm - HFD and HPD responded to Hirano Store in Glenwood to check on the welfare of a dementia patient.

  • 7:43 pm - HPD reported a down Tsunami Evacuation Sign near the intersection of Hualalai Road and Kuakini Highway in Kailua-Kona.

  • 8:05 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of a reckless driver on Queen Kaahumanu Highway near Hina Lani Street in Kaloko. A black pickup reported to be weaving in and out of traffic.

  • 8:08 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of an auto vs pedestrian collision on Highway 130 below Pahoa High School.

  • 8:05 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of a black and white cow on Waiula Drive near Kawaihae Road in Kamuela.

  • 9:10 pm - HPD responded to a report of suspicious activity at an apartment complex in Keauhou.

  • 9:10 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a person with suicidal ideation an apartment complex on Lehua Street in Wainaku.

  • 9:20 pm - HFD and HPD responded to the intersection of Lotus Blossom Parkway and Coral Parkway in Ocean View for a possible behavior disorder.

  • 9:33 pm - HPD responded to a report of an active domestic involving a male and female at a residence in the Ali’i Kai Subdivision in Kailua-Kona.

  • 10:27 pm - HFD and HPD responded to a report of a female party having a behavior disorder at a business on Sarona Road in Kailua-Kona.

  • 11:24 pm - HPD responded to a report of an unknown type disturbance between a male and female happening at a residence on Pilialoha Street in Kaumana.

  • 11:28 pm - HPD responded to investigate a report of loud music coming from a vehicle in the parking lot of an apartment complex in Waikoloa Village.

  • 11:57 pm - HPD responded to investigate a dropped 911 call in the area of Highway 200 (Daniel K. Inouye Highway) near the 41-mile marker in Pohakuloa.
