Fire destroys residence in the Hawaiian Ranchos subdivision Tuesday afternoon (June 30th).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of a residential structure fire in the Hawaiian Ranchos subdivision Tuesday afternoon (June 30th).
The initial call came in at 1:58 pm Tuesday afternoon and HFD crews from the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates and Pahala Fire Stations along with Battalion 2 and HPD officers from the Ka'ū Patrol responded to the scene located at the 92-1100 block of Prince Kuhio Boulevard in the Hawaiian Ranchos subdivision in Ka'ū.
Upon the arrival of emergency crews, reports came in from numerous neighbors, and nearby residence reporting a residence (described as a single-story family dwelling) was reported to engulfed in flames with smoke visible throughout Ocean View. It was noted that report to police for a report of a domestic disturbance involving two individuals occurring in the same area, however, it is unknown at this time, if those incidents were connected.
Once emergency crews arrived at the scene, HFD and HPD crews found the residence fully engulfed in flames with the structure fully collapsed. HFD crews immediately worked to extinguish the fire.
The fire was declared under control and contained at 2:22 pm Tuesday afternoon and HFD crews were commencing with mop-up operations.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
