Fire damages a residence in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision (HOVE) early Thursday morning (February 27th).
The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of a structure fire at a residence in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates subdivision (HOVE) in Ka'u early Thursday morning (February 27th).
The initial call came in at 12:35 am Thursday morning and HFD crews from the HOVE and Pahala Fire Stations along with Battalion 2, volunteers from the Ocean View station, and HPD officers from the Ka'u Patrol responded to the scene located at the 92-8800 block of Leilani Parkway in HOVE.
Upon the arrival of emergency crews, neighbors reported a residence (described as a single-story family dwelling approximately 20'x20' in size) was reported to be fully engulfed in flames and also was reported to be abandoned/unoccupied at the time of the fire.
Once HFD crews arrived on the scene, they found the residence fully engulfed and immediately went into a defensive mode of fire attack as parts of the structure had collapsed in the fire. HFD crews had the fire under control at 1:00 am and had the fire extinguished at 1:28 am Thursday morning. Shortly after the fire was extinguished, HFD crews were completing overhaul and mop-up operations.
No injuries or residents displaced as a result of the fire.
