Ka'u Information Update for October 3rd, 2019
Brush Fire sparked near South Point in Ka'u late Thursday night (October 3rd).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) is currently on scene and responding to report of a brush fire off of South Point Road near Kaulana Bay (South Point Boat Ramp) that started late Thursday night (October 3rd).
The initial call came in at 9:58 pm and crews from the Na'alehu, Pahala, and Hawaiian Ocean View Estates (HOVE) Fire Stations along with Battalion 1 and volunteers from the Na'alehu, Ocean View, Discovery Harbor, Pahala stations are responding to or on scene near South Point in Ka'u.
At last check, the brush fire was burning approximately 3-4 acres of open pasture land near above the road to Kaulana Bay. HFD crews are however encountering heavy wind gust of up to 25 mph in the area.
Currently, there is NO threat to any structures or Road Closed at this time. Should any closures occur, we will provide an update as it becomes available.
