King Kamehameha Day Celebration and Parade happening June 8th, 2019
On June 8th, 2019 in Kailua Village: the annual King Kamehameha Day Celebrations and Parade will be happening throughout Kailua Village. Starting at 9 am Saturday, annual King Kamehameha Day Parade will begin festivities on Saturday.
This year, the parade will travel north to south through Historic Kailua Village. The parade begins near Old Airport on Kuakini Hwy, traveling down Palani to the pier, then south on Ali‘i Drive through the village all the way to Walua Road by Royal Kona Resort.
The following road closures will be in effect from 9:00 am to 10:15 am June 8th, 2019:
- Kuakini Highway from Palani Road to Loloku Street
- Palani Road from Kuakini Highway to Kailua Pier
- Ali'i Drive from Kailua Pier to Walua Road intersection (Entrance with Royal Kona Resort)
Following after the parade:
A free concert featuring Hawaiian Singer /Songwriter, Kainani Kahaunaele will perform at the Hoolaulea. right after the parade at Hulihee Palace. Also performing will be Hula Halau Kaeakahelelani. Enjoy the Hawaiian Arts and Crafts Fair featuring traditional crafts, such as Lauhala, Koa Woodworks, Designer Hawaiian clothing, carvings, and original paintings, and photography. Enjoy the traditional craft demonstrations and the Hawaiian Pau special exhibit.
Also happening at Kailua Pier is also the King Kamehameha Day Canoe Regatta and foot traffic in the area is expected to be higher than normal.
All motorist are asked to drive with aloha and anticipate delays in the Kailua Village area with all the events happening.
