Two children critically injured following an ATV accident on Mana Road near Keanakolu Cabin in Kamuela Saturday afternoon (August 29th).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to report of an ATV (All-Terrain Vehicle) accident on Mana Road near Keanakolu Cabin in Kamuela Saturday afternoon (August 29th).
The initial call came in at 12:20 pm Saturday afternoon and HFD crews from the Waimea Fire Station along with Chopper 2 from the South Kohala Fire Station and HPD officers from the South Kohala Patrol responded to the scene located on Mana Road near Keanakolu Cabin.
Upon the arrival of emergency crews, a report came in from bystanders reporting 4 riders (described 1 adult and 3 children) were on aboard an ATV had gotten into an accident on Mana Road near Keanakolu Cabin. All 4 riders suffered injuries, 2 of which suffered major injuries as a result of the accident and bystanders were in the process of driving all 4 riders down Mana Road by private vehicle to rendezvous with emergency crews.
Once emergency crews arrived at Mana Road, HFD ground crews proceed on Mana Road by Polaris UTV, while Chopper 2 rendezvous with the vehicle with all 4 riders and later transported two children (described as both being male and age of 8) to the North Hawaii Community Hospital in critical condition for further medical treatment.
One of the 8-year-old male patient involved in the ATV accident was later medivac to another hospital with condition updated in serious condition.
Two other riders (described as both male being the age of 9 and other in his 30's) were evaluated by HFD crews, however, continued to North Hawaii Community Hospital by private vehicle for further medical treatment.
HPD continues to investigate this incident.
