Kealakehe Information Update for April 20th, 2021

One person seriously injured following a single moped collision on Kealakehe Parkway in Kealakehe, North Kona Tuesday afternoon (April 20th).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of a single-vehicle collision on Kealakehe Parkway in Kealakehe, North Kona Tuesday afternoon (April 20th).


The initial call came in at 1:35 pm Tuesday afternoon and HFD Crews from the Kailua Fire Station along with HPD Officers from the Kona Patrol responded to the scene located on Kealakehe Parkway just west of Queen Kaahumanu Highway (Highway 19) in Kealakehe, North Kona.


Upon the arrival of emergency crews, reports came in a single moped (described as a 2010 Honda Elite Moped) being operated by a male in his 60s had lost control of the moped and ran off Kealakehe Parkway below Queen Kaahumanu Highway. The rider fell off the moped and suffered serious injuries following the collision.


Once emergency crews arrived at the scene, HFD Crews immediately began medical treatment on the male patient and HFD Medic later transported the male patient to the Kona Community Hospital in serious condition.


HPD continues to investigate the incident.
