Keauhou Information Update for September 29th, 2020

One person seriously injured in a single motorcycle collision on Ali'i Drive fronting Kahalu'u Beach Park in Keauhou Tuesday evening (September 29th).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of a single motorcycle collision on Ali'i Drive fronting Kahalu'u Beach Park in Keauhou Tuesday evening (September 29th).

The initial call came in at 7:51 pm Tuesday evening and HFD crews from the Keauhou Fire Station along with HPD officers from the Kona Patrol responded to the scene located fronting Kahalu'u Beach Park in Keauhou.

Upon the arrival of emergency crews, reports came in that a motorcycle traveling at a high rate of speed on Ali'i Drive had swerved to avoid a vehicle that had stopped on the roadway and run off the roadway. The motorcyclist (described as a male in his 20's) went over the handlebars of the motorcycle and suffered serious injuries as a result of the collision. Bystanders at the scene provided basic medical aid until emergency crews arrived at the scene.

Once emergency crews arrived at the scene, HFD Medics took over medical treatment of the motorcyclist and later transported to the Kona Community Hospital in serious condition.

HPD continues to investigate the incident.
