Kohala Information Update for April 29th, 2019

The County of Hawaii Department of Water Supply (DWS) reports a water main break occurred in North Kohala early Monday morning (April 29th).

Crews are currently working on repairs at this time and a water outage has been reported for customers in the Kapa'au and Hawi area. Outage is expected to last for the next 6-8 hours. All customers in the effected areas are advised to conserve water until repairs are complete.

Due to the water main break, the Department of Education (DOE) reports Kohala Elementary and High School are closed today. Kohala Middle School remains open at this time. DOE officials have sent out an automated message to all parents advising them of the closure at both campuses.
