Kona Coast Flood Advisory for February 28th, 2021

A Flood Advisory has been issued for Kona Coast Districts of North and South Kona through Sunday evening (February 28th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 730 PM HST.

* At 425 PM HST, radar indicated slow moving heavy showers over
  leeward Big Island with heaviest rainfall over South Kona slopes.
  Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Honaunau, Kealakekua, Kainaliu, Honalo,
  Kahaluu-Keauhou, Holualoa, Pohakuloa Training Area, Kalaoa,
  Puuanahulu, Wood Valley, Hawaiian Ocean View, Milolii, Hawaii
  Volcanoes Park Kahuku Unit and Kona International Airport.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

A Flash Flood Watch is also in effect through tonight.

persists.
