Kona Coast Flood Advisory for March 20th, 2021

A Flood Advisory has been issued for the Kona Coast districts of North and South Kona through Saturday evening (March 20th).

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a

* Flood Advisory for...
  The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County

* Until 745 PM HST.

* At 444 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain over leeward portions of
  the Big Island. Rain was falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per
  hour.

* Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to...
  Kailua-Kona, Captain Cook, Honaunau, Kealakekua, Kainaliu, Honalo,
  Kahaluu-Keauhou, Holualoa, Hawaiian Ocean View, Kalaoa, Milolii
  and Hawaii Volcanoes Park Kahuku Unit.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.

Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.

Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 745 PM HST if flooding
persists.
