Several disruptions that occurred at Kealakehe Intermediate School Thursday afternoon (September 19th) results in an increased presence of security staff and also Hawaii Police Department (HPD) officers Friday (September 20th).
The Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded Thursday afternoon (September 19th) to Kealakehe Intermediate School following a report of several disruptions between multiple students at the school.
The initial call came just before 2:20 pm Thursday afternoon and Kona Patrol units responded to Kealakehe Intermediate School bus stop area. Upon the arrival of HPD units, reported that multiple students were involved in several disruptions and school officials requested assistance with diffusing the situations. However, school staff and security were able to safely diffuse the situations before units arrived on scene at the school. No injuries were reported as a result of the incidents.
As a result of the incidents, an increase in school Security Staff and HPD officers were present on campus before school, during breaks, and also after school as an abundance of caution, according to a letter (see photo below of letter to parents and guardians) sent home to parents and guardians advising them of the incidents that occurred yesterday.
Incidents remain under investigation and consequences for inappropriate behavior will be addressed by school administrative staff.
