Kukio Information Update for March 23rd, 2021
One person seriously injured following an industrial accident in Kukio, North Kona Tuesday morning (March 23rd).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of an industrial accident that occurred in Kukio, North Kona Tuesday morning (March 23rd).
The initial call came in at 9:26 am Tuesday morning and HFD Crews from the South Kohala Fire Station along with HFD Chopper 2 and HPD Officers from the Kona and South Kohala Patrol responded to a scene located at a construction site within the private residential community of Kukio in North Kona.
Upon the arrival of emergency crews, reports came into HFD Dispatch reporting a construction worker (described as a male in his 50s) had fallen from a rooftop approximately 15-feet in height to the ground. The male patient suffered a head injury as well as arm injury as a result of the accident, bystanders provided basic medical aid until emergency crews arrived at the scene. It was noted the male patient was conscious at the time of the incident.
Once emergency crews arrived at the scene, HFD Medics immediately took over medical care and prepared the male patient to be transported to the hospital via Chopper 2. HFD Chopper 2 then transported the male patient to North Hawaii Community Hospital in serious condition for further medical treatment.
HPD continues to investigate the incident.
