One person seriously injured following a surfing-related accident at Kua Bay (Maniniowali Beach) Tuesday morning (December 8th).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) and HFD Ocean Safety Lifeguards responded to a report of a medical emergency that occurred on Tuesday morning (December 8th) at Kua Bay (Maniniowali Beach).
The initial call came in at 10:23 am Tuesday morning and HFD Crews from the Kailua Fire Station along with HFD Ocean Safety Lifeguards at Kua Bay responded to the scene located Kekaha Kai State Park - Maniniowali Section (or Kua Bay).
HFD Ocean Safety Lifeguards at Kua bay reported a male party (described as a male in his 40s) suffered serious injuries following a surfing-related accident. Lifeguards immediately began medical care and stabilization of the male patient until HFD Medic could arrive at the scene.
Once HFD Medic took over care of the male patient and later prepared the patient to transported by Chopper 2 to the Kona Community Hospital, where he was transported in serious condition.
