North Hawaii Flood Advisory # 2 for February 9th, 2021
A Flood Advisory for the district of Hāmākua on the Island of Hawaii has been extended until 1:30 pm Tuesday afternoon. The Flood Advisory has been canceled for the South and North Kohala districts.

* Flood Advisory for...
The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County
* Until 130 PM HST.
* At 1010 AM HST, radar indicated moderate to heavy showers
repeatedly forming over the Hamakua Coast, mainly along the lower
slopes, with rainfall especially persistent near Honokaa. Rain was
falling at a rate of 1 to 2 inches per hour, and a rain gage in
Honokaa has recorded nearly 2 inches of rain this morning.

Honokaa, Paauilo, Kukuihaele, Ookala, Waipio Valley, Laupahoehoe,
Waimanu Valley and Pololu Valley.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...
Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone
to flooding.
Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due
to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action.
Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on
foot. Turn around, don`t drown.

This advisory may need to be extended beyond 130 PM HST if flooding
persists.
