A Flood Advisory has been issued for the districts of North Kohala and Hamakua districts until 9:15 pm. Moderate to heavy rainfall has been reported along the Hamakua Coast, particularly between Polulu Valley to Waipio Valley.

The National Weather Service in Honolulu has issued a * Flood advisory for... The island of Hawaii in Hawaii County * Until 915 PM HST. * At 610 PM HST, radar indicated heavy rain along parts of the Big Island`s Hamakua coast between Upolu Point and Ookala. Rain was falling at a rate of 2 to 3 inches per hour. * Locations in the advisory include but are not limited to... Paauilo, Laupahoehoe, Pololu Valley, Waipio Valley, Ookala, Hawi, Halaula, Kapaau, Honokaa and Mahukona. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... Stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low lying areas prone to flooding. Rainfall and runoff will also cause hazardous driving conditions due to ponding, reduced visibility and poor braking action. Do not cross fast flowing or rising water in your vehicle, or on foot. Turn around, don`t drown. && This advisory may need to be extended beyond 915 PM HST if heavy rain persists.
