North Kona Information Update for June 6th, 2019
2 people taken to hospital following an apparent stabbing incident in Kalaoa Thursday Night (June 6th)

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to apparent stabbing incident at a residences in Kalaoa Thursday night (June 6th).
The initial call came in 9:27 pm Thursday evening and crews from the Makalei and Kailua Fire Stations responded to scene located at the 73-1100 block of Alihilani Drive in the Kona Highlands subdivision in Kalaoa. Upon the arrival of HFD and HPD crews, initial reports came in that domestic incident involving a weapon occurred at the residences and later led to 2 people being stabbed and the responsible parties were reported to still be at the scene.
Once HPD officers arrived on scene, they immediately secured the scene and detained 2 people at the residences. Once the scene was secured and declared safe by HPD, HFD crews arrived soon after to begin evaluation and treatment of the 2 victims at the scene, they were reported to have facial stab wounds.
HFD Medics transported 2 male patients (one patient in his 20's and the other patient in his 60's) were both transported to the Kona Community Hospital in serious, but in stable condition, where at this time are currently receiving advance medical care for their injuries.
HPD officers are still on scene conducting an investigation into the circumstances that led up to the incident. It's unknown at this time if the 2 people detained at the scene were taken into custody in connection with the incident.
