Motorcyclist in Critical Condition following a Critical Motorcycle vs Vehicle accident Wednesday evening (May 29th)
The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a critical motorcycle vs. motor vehicle accident that happened on Ali'i Drive near the 2.5-Mile Marker on Wednesday evening (May 29th).
The initial call came in 5:05 pm Wednesday evening and crews from Kailua-Kona Fire Station responded to the scene located on Ali'i Drive near Stardust Lane intersection. Upon the arrival of HFD Crews, witnesses reported motorcycle and vehicle had collided on Ali'i Drive and the motorcyclist (described as a male in his 20's) was reported to be unresponsive with traumatic injuries.
Once HFD crews arrived on scene, they immediately began life-saving measures on the male victim and later transported the victim to the Kona Community Hospital in extremely critical condition, where the male patient's condition remains unknown at this time.
The driver of the vehicle involved was not injured.
HPD closed Ali'i Drive temporarily while HFD crews were on scene.
HPD's Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) investigators responded to scene and began their investigation into the cause and circumstances into the cause of critical accident.
