The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) is at the scene of a residential structure fire off in the HOVE (Hawaiian Ocean View Estates) subdivision reported Thursday evening (December 10th).
The initial call came in 9:26 pm Thursday evening and HFD Crews from the HOVE and Pahala Fire Stations along with Battalion 2, Volunteers from the Ocean View and Discovery Harbor Stations, and HPD Officers from the Ka'ū Patrol responded to the scene located at 92-8400 block of Catamaran Lane in HOVE.
Preliminary details received at this time that numerous 911 calls came into HFD dispatch reporting high flames were coming from a residence located between Catamaran Lane and Prince Kaiulani Boulevard. HFD crews later arrived at the scene, initially found a vehicle fully engulfed down a rough off-road driveway and upon further investigation found a residence (described as a small single-story family dwelling) fully engulfed down at the bottom of the driveway.
HFD Crews had to utilize 4x4 Brush Trucks and Engines to access the residence/vehicle and immediately worked to extinguish both the vehicle and structure fire. Water supply is also very limited at the scene and HFD Engines and Tanker is currently shuttling water to the scene from a water supply source located at the bottom of the HOVE subdivision.
HFD personnel determined the residence appeared to be abandoned and unoccupied at the time of the fire, continued focus to extinguish the fire, where at this time the fire contained to the structure and vehicle.
This is still an ongoing incident and will provide updates as it becomes available.
