Ocean View Information Update for May 31st, 2019
Residences displaced following a 2-story Structure Fire in Ocean View Friday evening (May 31st)

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) are on scene of a confirmed structure fire in the Hawaiian Ocean View Estates (commonly referred to as Ocean View or HOVE) in Ka'u Friday night (May 31st).
The initial call came in at 7:28 pm Friday night and crews from the HOVE and Pahala Fire Stations along with Battalion 2 and volunteers from the Ocean View station responded to scene located at the 92-2200 block of Mahimahi Drive in HOVE. Upon the arrival of HFD crews, reporting party reported a generator at the residences had exploded and sparked a fire that later spread structure. Occupants in the structure at the time of the fire had safely evacuated and were accounted for.
Once HFD crews on scene, they found 2/3 of a 2-story residential structure (approximately 700 square feet in size) fully engulfed in flames. Crews immediately went into a defensive mode of attack to gain control and extinguished the fire. Crews were able to have the fire under control at 7:50 pm Friday evening and continued with salvaging and overhauling operations.
HFD crews are still on scene at this time and the American Red Cross and HFD Fire Inspectors have been notified and also responding to the scene as well.
