Pu'uanahulu Information Update for November 19th, 2019
Critical Two-Vehicle Accident leads to the temporary closure of Highway 190 in Pu'uanahulu, North Kona Tuesday evening (November 19th).

The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) are on scene of a critical two-vehicle accident that occurred on Tuesday evening (November 19th) in Pu'uanahulu, North Kona.
The initial call came in at 6:48 pm Tuesday evening and HFD crews from the Makalei and Waikoloa Fire Stations along with HPD units from Kona Patrol responded to the scene located just north of the 19-mile marker on Highway 190 in Pu'uanahulu.
Upon the arrival of HFD and HPD units, witnesses report two vehicles collided on Highway 190 in Pu'uanahulu with one person (described as a female with age not disclosed) suffering from critical injuries and bystanders were providing medical aid and life-saving measures on the patient until emergency crews arrived on scene.
Once emergency crews arrived on scene, HFD personnel immediately took over medical care and began life-saving measures on the female patient. HFD Medics then transported the female to the North Hawaii Community Hospital in extremely critical condition, where at this time, her condition remains unknown at this time.
At this time, HPD has closed Highway 190 between Daniel K. Inouye Highway (or Saddle Road) and Makalei Drive (fronting the Makalei Fire Station). Highway 190 is expected to be closed for the next 3-4 hours while officers from the Traffic Enforcement Unit (TEU) begin their investigation into the collision.
