Small brush fire leads the Closure of Puako Beach Drive near Queen Kaahumanu Hwy Wednesday morning (July 31st)
The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) are on scene of a 2-acre brush fire that started on Wednesday morning (July 31st).
The initial call came in at 9:54 am and crews from the South Kohala, North Kohala, Waikoloa, and Waimea Fire Stations along with Battalion 2, and volunteers from the Anekona station responded to the scene located on Puako Beach Drive below the intersection of Queen Kaahumanu Hwy.
HPD reported Queen Kaahumanu Hwy and Puako Beach Drive was closed for brief period while HFD crews worked to contain and extinguish brush fire, which burned approximately less than 2 acres. At last check, HFD personnel were still on scene continuing with mop-up and wet-down operations.
No evacuations have been ordered and no injuries have been reported at this time.
