The Hawaii Fire Department (HFD) along with the Hawaii Police Department (HPD) responded to a report of a two-vehicle collision on Highway 132 (Pahoa-Kapoho Road) in Pahoa, Puna Thursday morning (August 27th).

The initial call came in at 8:26 am Thursday morning and HFD crews from the Pahoa and Paradise Park Fire Stations along with HPD officers from the Puna Patrol responded to the scene located on Highway 132 fronting the entrance/road to Puna Geothermal Venture (PGV) plant in Pahoa.

Upon the arrival of emergency crews, reports came in from bystanders for a report of Jeep SUV traveling at a high rate of speed on Highway 132, had rear-ended a Kenworth flatbed water truck on fronting the entrance/service road to PGV. Occupants of the Jeep (all being described as males under the age of 18) all suffered injuries as a result of the collision and needed the assistance of emergency crews to be extricated from the vehicle.

Once emergency crews arrived at the scene, HFD crews worked to extricate the juveniles from the vehicle and Medics immediately began medical treatment of the occupants of Jeep and later transported all four juvenile males to the Hilo Medical Center with their conditions all listed as in serious condition.

The operator of the Kenworth water truck was uninjured.
